KELVEDON HATCH 2010

Kelvedon Hatch Bunker in Essex has attracted a large ammount of Paranormal Investigation Interest, with many P.I Groups having investigated the venue before. Therefore there are many accounts of previous Paranormal Investigations available on the Internet . We did not research the venue prior to our own Investigation, as we did not want to influence our findings with any prior knowledge.

For the first time we allowed members of the public to join us, and had a good mix of those interested in the Paranomal, other P.Is and those of a definate sceptical nature. We actively encouraged members of the Public to join in with all the things we as a group would normally do. We hoped that everyone would 'experience' something during the time we were there!

The evening began at 9.00pm (after we eventually found the place!) and we stayed until 6.00am the following day.

During the time we were there we divided into two groups so we could compare findings. Due to the length of time we were there, and the ammount of evidence we obtained we have had to abbreviate our findings for the Website, including the writing and pictures so this is a very short account! We've listed our findings by area.

THE PICTURES INCLUDED RELATE TO TIMES WHEN MEMBERS OF THE GROUP 'EXPERIENCED' OTHER PHENOMENA AT THE SAME TIME.

THE KITCHEN

Our first experience was in the communal kitchen area. A grey mist was seen behind the counter, which we assumed to be steam, but there was no equipment to do this. A motion sensor alarm in the corridor next to the kitchen went off a second or so after - we expected someone to walk through but no-one did! We hurredly took a picture in the tunnel entrance /corridor.

The motion sensor in the corridor went of a couple of other times during the evening, for no apparent reason.

'ORBS' AND STRANGE LIGHTS

During our time Investigating, the Bunker was in complete darkness and many people from both groups experienced seeing 'lights' in the darkness. These lights were in various rooms, and of various sizes, from 'fairy lights' to 'balls' of light moving around that could not be explained by equipment, machinery, etc..
The photo on the left was taken by someone who had 'seen' the lights in the room and taken a picture immediately. The lights they photographed were exactly as they had seen them in the dark.

This was not the only 'light anomoly' seen/photographed during our visit. It must be remembered that the venue is full of reflective surfaces, lights from equipment, etc. so most of our photos showing 'orbs and lights' could be explained as the result of using a flash. However, in the photos below each was taken AFTER a member had described seeing a light, or 'felt' there was something there in the darkness. Quite often the 'lights' were seen by more than one person, in the same place at various times during the night, or two people would say at the same time that they could 'see' something.

'WILLIAM'

We were fortunate to have among our group some members with 'Psychic' ability, who provided some information on what they were experiencing during events. Perhaps, more surprisingly was the fact that those members who said they had no psychic ability or experience also picked up on things! - The name 'William' cam very strongly to the group of  females in Group 2, and they proceeded to give detailed descriptions of 'Williams' personality, appearance, and why he was there still. - It is interesting that Group 1 (which consisted of males and females) did not get the same strong feelings in the same places as group 2 as for most of the evening the findings in both groups were very similar.

As group 2 walked from room to room, it was felt by the group that 'William' was following the group, so pictures were taken at various times when someone said they 'felt' something was there.

One room in particular, which we will call 'the typewriter room' seemed to have the presence of 'William' very strong during our time in there. At one point, we asked 'William' if he was here to go to the Typewriter table so we could take a photograph of him (if he didn't mind of course) - the picture below was the one taken directly after asking 'William' to do this and was the only picture taken in the room showing an 'orb'.

During the evening we held both a 'rapping' and Ouija Session (using a Yes/No Board) - the 'rapping' (once for yes, twice for no) session was particularly good with Group 2 hearing very distinct 'knocks' in reply to their questions.  Group 1 had success with Dowsing Rods showing some  high levels of activity - again, in the places Group 1 had also experienced things.

We also filmed the Groups in various rooms - particularly The  BBC Room, Typewriter Room and Prime Ministers Room as these were felt to be the most 'active' locations. During the filming light anomolies were seen to move about the rooms and in one session a light was filmed above the head of one of the GPS Group members unknown to them at the time.

It was after this session that the person complained of feeling unwell and wanting to leave the Investigation immediately. They were removed, and taken to the control room where they said that they had suddenly 'not felt right' and had a headache - they did look very pale, and their hands were very hot while their palms were clammy and cold.  Despite being a very active participant before this, they refused to return to the Investigation after and spent the rest of the evening in the canteen/control area. They did not return inside the Bunker again.

The evening ended at 5.00am - by which time we were exhausted- Kelvedon Hatch had been a very busy and eventful night for us all!

CONCLUSION

During our time at Kelvedon, we did record various 'phenomena' which was experienced by different groups at different times throughout the night. We were fortunate that most of those involved truely believed that they had experienced 'paranormal phenomena' - even those of a more sceptical nature experienced something that they could not logically explain at the time.
Due to the ammount of information we collected it would be impossible to add a full report of findings here, but we are in the proccess of evaluating everything we have found so that we (hopefully) can find something more definative to explain the supposed 'hauntings' of Kelvedon Hatch.

Since this visit we have returned to Kelvedon Hatch - see our 2011 report.
