Past Lives
past memories?
This account is a firsthand one from a GPS member, Hertfordshire.
I remember when I was about 11 dreaming a vivid dream about a large white house in the country. It wasn't a house I knew,or to my memory, had seen before, but I could see it all with total clarity, and in my dream I knew I lived there.
The house was more of a mansion - a large symetrical facade, with pillars and a balcony which overlooked the large gardens below. It's the gardens I remember best - they were a large symetrical design, with large ponds and seperate shrub arrangements laid out in geometric designs. I remember standing on the balcony which was surrounded by a white stone balustrade? (I think that's the name) some 40 feet above the garden, looking down onto it. There was a flight of stone steps from ground level down to the gardens, this was a steep drop, and I vaguely remember thinking how dangerous those steps were!
I don't recall seeing anyone else in my dream, either with me, or in the gardens below. I must have had this dream more than once, because I actually drew the gardens once - the layout of them, marking the arrangement of ponds, shrubs and statues. I showed my mum the drawing, and explained the recurring dream. I was somewhat surprised when she said that she had had the same recurring dream, about (what seemed) to be the same house.
We compared what we had remembered, and some similarities were alarming. Even down to seeing the same gardens, with the stone steps and steep hill. Prior to this, neither of us had mentioned about the dreams we had been having. The difference between our dreams was that hers were based more on being inside the house, where she had walked along long corridors, as though 'being shown around it' - again she had the feeling that she was living there, but could see or sense, no-one else in her dream. Of course, both of these could be put down to coincidence, - a book or film we had watched that somehow, subconsiously manifested itself in our dreams. Although we've remembered the conversation we had, we thought no more about it.
Some 20 years later I was having dinner with my husband and children, the eldest child, our daughter - being around 5/6 years of age at the time. This is the conversation we had, which I remember very well!
My daughter said, out of the blue: "Mum, do you remember the house me, you and nanny lived in a long time ago?"
No, what house?
"The Big house in the country - you must remember it??"
I don't remember it at all...
"You must remember it...me, you and nanny lived there..."
At this point my daughter got upset, because I couldn't remember living with her at this time, so I pretended I could remember to see if she would say anymore, but asked her what she remembered about the time.
Can you tell me why we lived in this house?
"We worked in the kitchen...a big kitchen.."
Was daddy there..or your brothers and sister?
"No...we didn't know them then...they weren't born.."
How old were me, nanny and you?
"Same as we are now..."
Did we know each other?
"Yes...you were my mum, and nanny my nan..."
What happened to us?
"We left the house...."
Why?
"There was a fire and the house burnt down...we were alright, but we had no jobs after.. we had to leave.."
At this stage my daughter seemed to grow bored with answering my questions, and I decided not to ask her anymore in case it distressed her. Somedays later I showed her a book of country houses, and asked her to pick out a house that looked like the one we had all lived in. There were many types, styles and eras of houses in the book - some photographed, and some painted or drawn. She chose a small line drawing of a white Mansion house out of the hundreds in the book., as being the nearest to 'her' house.Unfortunately it was a picture, and nothing more - no information or anything - just a representative drawing of an old house.... Of course, after this experience, I compared my dreams, those of my mums, and now what my daughter had said and the similarities between the three of us. - Whether these 'memories' are proof of past lives - I don't know, my daughter has never mentioned anything again, but I'd like to believe that if Past Lives are real, we are always surrounded by those we love!
